The ABG Digicon 2 is a high-performance, overhauled flexographic equipment designed for precision label and packaging production. Built to operate right-to-left, this machine integrates advanced features such as semi-rotary flexographic printing, UV curing, and die-cutting capabilities, making it ideal for high-quality, short to medium print runs. Key benefits include quick change cassettes, servo-driven re-register, and automated tension control, ensuring efficiency and consistency. Typical applications include pressure-sensitive label production, flexible packaging, and specialty converting processes.

Key Technical Aspects:

Dimensions and Specifications : The Digicon 2 supports a maximum web width of 330 mm and a minimum web width of 180 mm, with a maximum repeat length of 457.2 mm and a minimum repeat length of 50.8 mm. The rewind maximum diameter is 500 mm, and the unwind accommodates rolls up to 700 mm in width. The machine includes a 19” magnetic cylinder for die-cutting with an 18” maximum repeat, and a coating cylinder of 11” (320 mm coating width).

Paper Handling : The unwind section features a 700 mm electronic web guide with edge sensor, splice table, web clamps, and auto brake tension control. A roll lift is included for the 700 mm unwind. The infeed and outfeed sections are equipped with nip drives and dancers for precise web control. The rewind section includes scissor slitting with 5 knives, a back scorer for edge trimming, and a single spindle rewind with variable tension control and a 76 mm air expanding shaft. A second rewind shaft (76 mm) is also provided, along with a label length counter featuring batch and pause functionality.

Printing Unit : The machine features a semi-rotary flexographic printing station with a quick-change cassette system, including a stainless steel ink pan, pick-up roller, ceramic anilox roller, and reverse angle doctor blade. The station offers auto pre-positioning and servo-driven re-register. It includes one coating cylinder (11”, 320 mm width) and one anilox roller (400 LPI, 6.77 cm³/m²). UV curing is provided by a GEW air-cooled unit (160 w/cm), complemented by a hot air drying system. An over-laminating tower with waste carrier rewind and a mid-press dancer enables full rotary coating. The die-cutting station utilizes a Kocher & Beck Gapmaster with a 19” magnetic cylinder (18” maximum repeat). Waste matrix stripping supports a maximum diameter of 600 mm.

Ink System : The printing station incorporates a ceramic anilox roller (400 LPI, 6.77 cm³/m²) with a reverse angle doctor blade for precise ink metering. The system is complemented by a stainless steel ink pan and pick-up roller, ensuring consistent ink transfer and high-quality print results.
